24/7 Service: Select Option #2

Upcoming Events

The Cocoon hosts several events throughout the year to raise awareness about our services and funding to support programs for survivors.

Our fundraising events offer guests an opportunity to learn more about the agency while financially supporting critical programs and services. Sponsorship opportunities are available and include partnership recognition, priority seating, and more. Net proceeds from our fundraising events are put directly back into supporting programs and services that reach more than 800 survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and their children, each year.

Many of the events we host each year are free and family friendly. Mark your calendar for the events below and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for event updates and information throughout the year.

Inside the Impact
Free Virtual Event

We are launching a new quarterly event called “Inside the Impact.” This programming is designed for donors, supporters, and survivors alike. Each event will feature Executive Director Kathy Mull and a Cocoon team member who will talk about their work and how it impacts the community.

Your viewership will help shape this event. Guests will be able to ask and get answers to their questions in real time by joining via Facebook Live or Zoom.

Kathy will be joined by our Prevention Educator Piper Nelson. Please be aware that these events will be recorded as well as streamed live on Facebook.

Lunch with the Executive Director
Free Virtual Event

Join us for our monthly “Lunch with the Executive Director” series. This month Kathy will be joined by our in-house physician, Dr. Bills.

What Were You Wearing
Community Event

The “What Were You Wearing?” exhibit displays representations of clothing worn by sexual assault survivors during their assaults, paired with brief narratives from the survivors themselves.

The exhibit’s purpose is to challenge the myth that a person’s clothing choice can be blamed for sexual violence, shifting the focus to the perpetrator and fostering empathy for survivors.

5k and Dog Walk
Community Event

Show your support for Sexual Assault Awareness Month and stay active by participating in the SAAM 5K and Dog Walk! This event is a fundraiser and benefit for the Office of the Dean of Students Survivor Fund and The Cocoon, which provides crisis intervention and emotional support for victims of sexual assault, stalking, sexual harassment and sex trafficking. Register by March 20 to guarantee your t-shirt and dog bandana!

Take Back the Night
Community Event

Take Back the Night is an active empowerment and demonstration event for individuals who have experienced intimate partner violence and sexual violence, including sexual assault, sexual abuse, trafficking, stalking, gender harassment, and relationship violence. In addition to local efforts, Take Back the Night is recognized annually across the country.

This event is held to provide a safe, supportive, and uplifting space for individuals to speak out about the violence in their lives, mourn those who have lost their lives due to violence, advocate for those living with violence, and be in community.

The Clothesline Project
Community Event

The on-campus display of The Clothesline Project will feature a large display of shirts made by Wood County survivors or a loved one of a victim of violence. The purpose of the project is to increase awareness of the impact of violence and abuse, to honor a survivor’s strength to continue, and to provide another avenue for them to courageously break the silence that often surrounds their experience.
